Beginning on Oct. 1, flushing will be performed from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. each weekday, and is expected to conclude after approximately four weeks. The Water Department will begin the flushing program at the Village well field on Route 129. From there, they will continue flushing hydrants toward the end of the water system, near the Croton-Harmon train station.
Officials said that as the hydrant-flushing program nears one’s neighborhood, there may be a slight discoloration in the water, which poses no health risk. To clear the line, homeowners need to simply run water for a short stretch of time until it is clear.
Homeowners should not do any laundry until the water runs clear. If discoloration persists past the scheduled hydrant-flushing, homeowners can call the Croton-on-Hudson DPW by calling (914) 271-3775.
